Privacy and Security Tips for Using ShareYourFans™️
As a content creator, privacy is paramount. Protecting your personal information, accounts, and content can prevent issues like identity theft, account breaches, and unwanted attention. Here are some comprehensive tips for staying secure on ShareYourFans™ and Telegram:
Use an Alias or Brand Name
Update your Telegram display name to reflect your creator name or alias instead of your real name, because your Telegram username is how your profile will be displayed to match on ShareYourFans™. This adds a layer of anonymity.
- Go to Settings > Edit Profile to update your name and username.
Be Mindful of Profile Photos
Avoid using personal or family photos in your Telegram profile, and make sure to avoid posting photos including content with other creators or people from your personal life while using our scheduled post feature on ShareYourFans™. Instead, use images that align with your creator persona and don’t give away your personal details.
Keep Personal and Creator Accounts Separate
When setting up your Telegram account to participate in ShareYourFans™ Drops, it’s critical to separate it from your personal life. If you allow Telegram to access your phone contacts during setup, it will automatically sync them and notify your saved contacts that you joined Telegram. This could unintentionally expose your creator identity to people in your personal life.
Follow these steps before setting up your Telegram account:
- Use a Separate Email & Phone Number
- Create a new email specifically for your creator activities.
- Use a separate phone number (Google Voice, a second SIM, or an app-based number like TextNow) instead of your personal one.
- Disable Contact Syncing Before Setup
- Go to Telegram Settings > Privacy & Security > Find “Sync Contacts” and toggle it OFF
- Delete any contacts Telegram may have already synced by going to Settings > Privacy & Security > Delete Synced Contacts
We recommend disabling contact syncing immediately when setting up Telegram to prevent automatic syncing. If you skip this step, Telegram may notify your phone contacts that you joined,
- Control Who Can See Your Account Even if you disable contact syncing, you should still lock down your privacy settings:
Extra Privacy Tips ✔ Use a different username than your personal one to avoid being searchable. ✔ Turn Off “People Nearby” so Telegram doesn’t expose your location. ✔ Enable Two-Step Verification for added security (Settings > Privacy & Security > Two-Step Verification). Following these steps ensures your personal and creator identities remain separate and protects your privacy when using Telegram for drops.
Secure Your Accounts
Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Adding 2FA provides an extra layer of protection for your accounts.
- On Telegram: Go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Two-Step Verification and set a password.
Regularly Update Passwords
Avoid using the same password for multiple platforms and update them periodically.
- Use a password manager like 1Password to create and store strong, unique passwords.
Check Active Sessions
Regularly review and manage active sessions on your accounts to log out of devices you no longer use.
- On Telegram: Go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Active Sessions to view and end sessions.
Protect Your Content
Scrub Geo-Data from Photos with the ShareYourFans™ Photo Privacy Check Tool
When you take photos, metadata (including precise location or device information) is often embedded in the file. Scrub this data with the ShareYourFans™ Photo Privacy Check tool.
- Select a photo by either dragging the image to the browser page or clicking the “select file” button to find it on your device. The ShareYourFans™ Photo Privacy Check tool will automatically scan your file for any hidden metadata and remove it for you.
Turn off Location Tagging on your Phone
Keep future photos from embedding detailed location information.
- On iOS: Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services and disable location access for your camera.
- On Android: Open your camera app settings and turn off location tagging.
Watermark Your Content
Watermarking your content helps protect your brand and deter unauthorized use when promoting yourself on social media.
However, do NOT add your own watermark to images uploaded to fan platforms like OnlyFans, Fansly, LoyalFans, and Fanvue, as these platforms automatically apply their own watermark to your content. Manually adding watermarks to these images may violate platform guidelines or make your content appear cluttered.
Only add watermarks when posting on social media platforms like: ✔ Instagram ✔ Twitter/X ✔ Reddit ✔ TikTok (for still images or thumbnails) ✔ Facebook & other promotional spaces
Use tools like Canva, Adobe Express, or PicsArt to create a subtle, non-intrusive watermark for your images before posting them on public platforms. Best Practices for Watermarking:
- Keep it small and semi-transparent so it doesn’t distract from your content.
- Place it in a corner or along the edge to avoid covering important details.
- Use your creator name or logo so people can still recognize your brand.
Post with Caution
When sharing content, ensure it aligns with group rules and policies. Avoid sharing overly personal details or unfiltered behind-the-scenes information.
General Privacy Practices
Limit What You Share
Be selective about the personal details you share in your profiles, bios, and captions. Consider:
- Using an alias or pseudonym.
- Keeping your bio professional and on-brand.
- Consider being broad about personal details; don’t give our your address, what city you live in, how many children you have, where you will be going, etc.
Review App Permissions
Check what permissions you’ve granted to Telegram and other apps.
- Revoke unnecessary permissions like camera, microphone, or contacts unless required.
Block and Report Intrusive Users
If someone is being disrespectful or violating your boundaries:
- Block the user via their profile.
- Report them to the group admin or Telegram support.
Additional Safety Measures
Monitor Social Media Links
When sharing links to your social media or fan platforms, ensure they’re professional and don’t reveal personal email addresses or phone numbers. Do not click links that are sent to you from your fans on your platform site or on social media. Some people may try sending you a locator link where when you click it it will give them your exact location. Scammers also try to collect your data and private information when you click on links they send you.
Avoid Sharing Live Locations
Never share your real-time location in Telegram groups or with fans on Snapchat for example. If needed, send a generic location for reference (for example, instead of saying you live in LA, say you live in California or the west coast).
Set Boundaries for Communication
Be clear about how and when you interact with fans or collaborators. Avoid sharing your primary email or personal accounts.
Use Saved Messages for Organization
Telegram’s Saved Messages feature is great for storing templates, captions, and frequently used links without exposing them publicly.
